Federica Pini Sandrelli was born in Italy in 1997, into a family immersed in art and nature. From an early age, she developed a deep curiosity about the body and the sensation of vertigo, discovering the joy of climbing trees. At the age of six, she began attending the Piccola Scuola di Circo in Milan and, in 2017, joined the Flic Circus School in Turin, where she trained in swinging trapeze under the guidance of Matteo Lo Prete. These three years were rich in encounters, experiences and collective creations, shaped in particular by her collaborations with Roberto Magro, Claudio Stellato and Francesco Sgrò. In 2020, she was admitted directly to the third year of the Centre National des Arts du Cirque (CNAC) in Châlons-en-Champagne. She completed her training with the touring production of After All, directed by Séverine Chavrier.
At the heart of her artistic research lies the void: not as an absence, but as a space to inhabit with naturalness and presence, much like a room or a landscape. Her work develops at the intersection between high-level aerial acrobatics on the swinging trapeze and a simpler, more intimate and essential form of suspension.
Alone on the trapeze, she has gradually learned to embrace this solitude. It is a silent conversation between the body, the apparatus and the air surrounding her; a dialogue shaped by sensitive presence and fragile balance.
At the same time, some of her most profound artistic experiences have emerged from collective work. Encounters with others, trust, listening and the wealth of possibilities that arise through shared creation nurture something different in her, yet complementary to her solo work. Her artistic research therefore moves constantly between these two poles: the solitude of the air and the heterogeneous strength of the group, in an ongoing dialogue in which each nourishes and transforms the other.
